A Bit about SAB
Welcome to SAB: sugar and butter: a blog about cakes. Let me start by telling you about SAB. I am Susan, a mostly self-taught baker in Blacksburg, Virginia. My profession has been in sports medicine but I have always been interested in baking. About 3 years ago a friend gave a cake making/decorating class to some girlfriends and me. I LOVED it! After that, I started making cakes for family get togethers and special events like anniversaries and birthdays. I love experimenting with different flavor combinations and trying new piping or decorating techniques. I started this blog as a place to view some of the work I've done, reflect on cake projects I've completed, and to give insight into the cakes and projects that have been very personal to me. I may also occasionally throw in a recipe here and there. I hope you enjoy!
